挪威的森林

I didn't care
where I slept, provided I was out of people's way and could stay in my sleeping
bag as long as I felt like it. Exhausted from walking, I would crawl into it,
gulp down some cheap whisky, and fall fast asleep. In nice towns, people would bring
me food and mosquito coils, and in not-so-nice towns, people would call the
police and have me chased out of the parks. It made no difference to me one way
or another. All I wanted was to put myself to sleep in towns I didn't know.

只要是不影响通行而又可以放心熟睡的地方，我便肆无忌惮地大睡特睡。我将风尘仆仆的身子裹在睡袋里，咕嘟咕嘟喝几口低档威士忌，马上昏睡过去。遇到热情好客的小镇，人们便为我端来饭菜;而若是人情淡薄的地方，人们便喊来警察把我逐出公园。对我来说，好也罢坏也罢怎么都无所谓。我所寻求的不过是在陌生的城镇睡个安稳觉而已。
